Say Yes! Yes! Yes!

Say YES! to the Drinking Water Asset Management Grant Program!

If your home is among the approximately 335 addresses selected by the water department to be a part of the Drinking Water Asset Management Grant Program, say yes. This assessment and verification program identifies what material the water service line is made of both inside and outside homes in the city. The Water Department will be calling selected homes to schedule 2 appointments- first, to look at the water service line connection inside the basement and second, to look at the water service line street connection at the curb. No replacement of service lines will be done at this time. This grant moves Highland Park closer to having water service lines made with dangerous material like lead removed from the community just like these dangerous water service lines were removed from Flint and Benton Harbor.

Questions Highland Parkers have asked:

  • Why was my home selected, is there something wrong with my line?

No there is not something wrong with your line. Selection was random. Highland Park was divided into 4 sections -northwest, northeast, southwest, and & southeast. Addresses were randomly selected

proportionally based on population.

  • How long will the inside inspection take?

About 30 minutes. Nothing will be disturbed.

  • Why does inspection have to be done at the curb stop and what happens if something is damaged?

Let’s move Highland Park forward. Answer the phone, make the appointment, say yes!
